Lithium hydroxide (LiOH) is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula LiOH and has the appearance of a white crystalline powder. It is soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, and has a strong alkaline, 1mol/L solution pH is about 14. Lithium hydroxide has a melting point of 462°C, a boiling point of 925°C and a density of 1.43g/cm³.

Lithium hydroxide is widely used in many fields. First of all, it is an important raw material for the preparation of lithium salts and lithium-based greases. Secondly, it is also used for alkaline storage battery electrolyte and lithium bromide refrigerator absorption liquid. In addition, lithium hydroxide is an important raw material in battery materials, especially in lithium-ion batteries and lithium-ion capacitors and other batteries have been widely used. Lithium hydroxide also plays an important role in the manufacture of fine chemicals, such as synthetic catalysts and plastic additives. In the food processing industry, it can be used to prepare yeast, amino acids and other nutrients. In the medical industry, lithium hydroxide is also used in the treatment of some mental disorders.

In the preparation of lithium hydroxide, there are several common preparation methods. Including lithium carbonate causticizing method, lithium carbonate and refined milk of lime are mixed in molar ratio and then heated and stirred, after a series of treatment to obtain lithium hydroxide products. In addition, there are lithium sulfate causticization and limestone roasting methods, which require specific raw materials and preparation conditions.
