Product Details


Spodumene is a monoclinic mineral, its crystals are often columnar, granular or plate, color diversity, including gray, gray green, purple or yellow. The hardness of spodumene is 6.5-7, the density is 3.03-3.22g/cm³, it has a glass luster and high transparency.

The chemical composition of spodumene is LiAl[Si₂ O], of which the theoretical content of Li₂ O is as high as 8.03%. Spodumene concentrates typically contain 6.3 to 7.5 percent Li₂ O, but may in fact be in the range of 2.91 to 7.66 percent due to the replacement of lithium by sodium and potassium. Spodumene is one of the main minerals containing lithium, often with other minerals such as quartz, albite, microcline and other symbiosis.

Spodumene changes color when heated or exposed to ultraviolet light and loses its luster when exposed to sunlight. When calcined to about 1000°C, it rapidly transforms into β-type spodumene and has hot-cracking properties.

As the raw material of lithium chemical products, spodumene is widely used in lithium chemical industry, glass, ceramics and other industries, and enjoys the reputation of "industrial monosodium glutamate. Specifically, spodumene can be used to extract lithium, make ceramic casseroles, and make bracelets, necklaces and other accessories. In the ceramic industry, spodumene is used to make casseroles that can be heated in a microwave oven because of its good stability and heat resistance, and has a certain health effect.

The purification process of spodumene usually includes multiple steps such as raw ore mining, one-time hand selection, crushing, grinding, gravity separation, flotation separation and product processing.
