Product Details

Lithium metaborate (Lithium Metaborate) is a compound with specific chemical properties. Its chemical formula is LiBO₂ and its formula is 49.75 (anhydrous). The following is a detailed description of lithium metaborate:

Physical properties: lithium metaborate is a colorless, with pearly luster triclinic crystal. Anhydrous material has excellent thermal stability, melting point up to 845 ℃, the relative density of 1.397g/cm³. It is soluble in water, and its solubility increases with increasing temperature. In solution, lithium metaborate can be crystallized to form a variety of hydrates such as dihydrate and octahydrate, of which octahydrate is a colorless trigonal crystal with a relative density of 1.38g/cm³.

Chemical properties: Lithium metaborate has low solubility in cold water, but is soluble in hot water. The octahydrate is more soluble in water than the anhydrate and is soluble in self-crystallizing water at 47°C.

Preparation Method: Lithium metaborate can be prepared by various methods, such as melting lithium hydroxide or lithium carbonate in a stoichiometric ratio with boric acid, or obtaining the octahydrate from the solution by a recrystallization process and further drying to obtain the anhydrate.

Application field: lithium metaborate is an important flux, the main function is to mix with lithium tetraborate in proportion to neutralize the acidity and alkalinity of different oxides, so that the sample reaches a molten state, so that the corresponding molten glass or solution can be obtained. In addition, lithium metaborate is also widely used in ceramic material manufacturing, pharmaceutical industry, wavelength dispersive XRF fluorescence spectrometer, AA atomic absorption and ICP sample preparation process. In the molten state, lithium metaborate can completely decompose tungsten and molybdenum ore, and mix with a specific ratio of Li₂ BO₂ to dissolve aluminum silicate, silicon carbide, boron carbide, etc.

Storage and transportation: Lithium metaborate should be sealed and stored in a cool and dry place.
